Visible Structural Issues & Integrity Concerns:
Debris Build-Up on Piers:
Vegetation and debris wrapped around the support columns (especially the wood members) indicate frequent water flow or flooding, which could lead to scour or gradual weakening of the base over time.
Exposed and Weathered Wood:
The wood supports show signs of weathering, rot, and potential termite or water damage. You can see color inconsistencies and splintering - red flags for compromised load-bearing capacity.
Steel Support System Integration:
There's a mix of steel and wood, likely indicating retrofit work or reinforcement. This could suggest previous structural concerns - engineers would want to evaluate whether these elements are effectively transferring loads.
Leaning and Asymmetrical Bracing:
Some of the bracing on the wood appears slanted or uneven, which may point to movement, settling, or improper load distribution. The lateral bracing on the right side looks particularly irregular.
Foundation Exposure:
The bases of the supports are embedded directly into soil or concrete channel areas, which could pose a scour risk during heavy rain events - especially with visible erosion signs around the base.
Vegetation Encroachment:
Overgrowth near the supports could trap moisture, accelerate rot, and hide damage during visual inspections.
